About DIDIM

One summer, while performing outdoors, I noticed sweat on my neck and tried using a handkerchief while playing.
But it kept slipping and falling off, and the fabric didn’t feel very comfortable.

When I started looking for chinrest covers, I found that many were too thick, didn’t fit my chinrest well, or simply didn’t feel pleasant on the skin. Leather covers were difficult to wash, cotton ones felt rough, and silk ones were too slippery, making the chinrest unstable whenever the angle of my chin changed.

So I began thinking about creating a chinrest cover that would feel as natural as a handkerchief—soft, secure, and beautiful.

At first, I only planned to make about ten pieces to share with friends. But as I continued improving the design, the samples kept getting better than I had expected. Eventually, I realized this was something worth sharing with more musicians.

I don’t expect these covers to sell in huge numbers. The number of violin and viola players is limited, and only some of them use chinrest covers. But I believe that if I needed something like this, there must be someone else looking for it too.

Rather than making something for everyone, I want to create something truly good for those who need it.

Through DIDIM, I hope to help musicians who experience discomfort, metal allergies, or pain while playing. If these covers can make someone’s practice more comfortable and their playing more enjoyable, that would make me very happy.
